It is great for preventing face peeling from sunburn, for soothing redness, and for helping to repair damage. With plenty of antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds, it is a potent recipe for after sun exposure repair.
The Original Sunburn Relief Face Mask
Aloe, honey, chamomile, and carrot seed oil promote healing and repair the skin. It is great for preventing face peeling from sunburn, for soothing redness, and for helping to repair damage. With plenty of antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds, it is a potent recipe for after sun exposure repair.
Materials
- 2 tablespoons raw honey
- 1 tablespoon of pure aloe
- 2 drops of carrot seed essential oil
- 2 drops of chamomile essential oil
Instructions
- Stir all of the ingredients together with a non-wooden spoon.
- Gently rinse your face with cool water and a mild cleanser like this onee (which is chalk full of probiotics).
- Pat dry.
- Dip your fingers in the mask and apply a thin coat over the face. You can also use it wherever else the sun may have kissed your skin!
- Let it set for 15 minutes then rinse off with cool water.
- Follow up with a thin layer of coconut oil to further aid in the healing process!
My second sunburn relief face mask takes a tad more preparation but it is incredibly effective in terms of mitigating pain! For major sunburns, this is definitely my go-to remedy! Willow bark has been used as a pain killer since 400 BCE and used to be the active ingredient in aspirin!

- 1 teaspoon white willow bark powder OR 10 drops white willow bark extract
- 1 small, peeled cucumber
- 1/4 cup of pure aloe
Instructions
- Blend all of the ingredients in a blender or food processor.
- Once thickened into a paste, refrigerate for 15 minutes.
- Dip your fingers into the mask and apply a thin layer all over your face.
- Leave on for 30 minutes then rinse with cool water and pat dry!
