Long beautiful hair
Steaming, flaxen, waxen
Give me down to there hair
Shoulder length or longer
Here baby, there mama
Everywhere daddy daddy
Hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair
Flow it, show it
Long as God can grow it
I always loved the musical Hair. The original one. I was absolutely in love with…the hair! And the soundtrack. The soundtrack was killer. I used to sing all the songs at the top of my five year old lungs. I’m sure my parents were thrilled but hey – their fault for letting me see the play.
Fast forward to 2014 and it would appear as though humankind is getting back to its crunchy roots (pun intended). Hair care has taken a primitive turn as we become more aware of the dangers of all the chemicals used to create our precious shampoos, conditioners, and styling products.
From the time I was about 12 years old until I was 32, not a day would go by where my hair wasn’t assaulted with an array of shampoos and conditioners promising to deliver a certain result. My lochs were detangled, scrunched, teased, and sprayed with just about every product ever made. I took great pride on caring for my hair. Ha. If only I really knew.
Even though I tried to use more ‘natural’ products, my hair wasn’t getting fooled. It still felt the wrath of all those unsavory ingredients masked by clever marketing and the allure of herbs and oils.
20 years. 20 years of damaging my scalp, my tresses, and allowing toxins to invade my body – right at the epicenter of what makes me tick…my brain! Good thing I wised up.
Making the switch to a truly natural hair care regime is not easy.
In fact, there is really no one size approach to it. All hair reacts to different natural cleansers and conditioners differently. Some may even work great for a while and then suddenly stop working at all. This typically has to do with the PH balance that comes into play as well as your scalp’s natural tendency to become reliant on and resistant to the same product over and over again.
Over the past five years, I have tried various natural cleansing methods. No Poo, Co-Poo, water only, coconut oil soap, honey, coconut milk, herb rinses, and the list goes on. Like I mentioned above, each of these methods would work for a while but after a few months, my hair looked deader than a doornail. It had lost its lust for life. And so, it got swept into a bun and ignored.
Then Morrocco Method Waltz Into My Life And…
Stop the presses! This is big news. Huge. I am in love with my hair again and my hair loves me right back! (My scalp does too!)
Seriously friends. I feel like I have a whole new head of hair. Now compared to the average person I may have had a head start to healthy, chemical free hair simply because I haven’t put chemical laden products on it for five years. But it doesn’t mean I didn’t have hair and scalp issues caused by my other health battles. Trust me, I did. But after finding my new partner in hair-care crime, these issues quickly becoming a distant memory.
What’s so great about the Morrocco Method?
There are a lot of great things about this company and its products. I can only speak to the products I have tried so far but I assume, based on my insanely positive results, that everything in their product line is stellar.
Before I give you the low-down on my lochs, let me tell you a little bit about my affiliate partner.

The Morrocco Method sent me a sweet little starter package complete with a personalized approach to caring for my hair. I thought that was pretty awesome. Not only did they look at photos of my hair but they took into consideration what I told them about my hair, scalp, and overall health, and created a plan of attack to get my hair and scalp back to its infancy so to speak.
When I received my goodies, I spent a lot time reading the literature that they had sent me. I was pretty impressed and I actually learned about hair growth, loss, and overall health. It’s fascinating stuff and I will share more in future posts because I think it really is worth knowing. But for now, let’s talk about my experience.
The first thing I used was the Zen Detox.
Why not? I figured I would dive right in and get my scalp ready for some big changes. The powder was easy to mix up and apply. I left it on for about an hour then rinsed according to their instructions. Now I have to be honest. My hair wasn’t looking all the amazing after I let it air dry. I suspect it as because of all the junk that was drawn out. My hair was a bit dull but it did have some pretty incredible curls. My typically limp curls were pretty darn perky. No shine, but they seemed happy. My scalp on the other hand felt divine. It felt fresh and renewed. While I didn’t feel anything happening while the detox was on it, my scalp really did feel amazing afterwards.
I battle dry scalp which is a side-effect of my health issues. I was hoping that the Zen Detox would get me on my way to a healthier, less flaky scalp. After two uses (10 days apart), I am pleased to report that my scalp is incredibly happy, less itchy, and not nearly as dry as before. It still has a little ways to go but I am impressed. Nothing, and I mean nothing, has been able to aid my poor scalp.
Per the advice of the Morrocco Method website, I have been alternating their shampoos. Like I mentioned above, hair gets lazy and accustomed to a single product used all the time. You have to nourish it with a wide variety of nutrients. The Morrocco Method emphasizes this concept and created five different shampoos that each utilize unique cleansing agents. I can already see the different by alternating products. In fact, I’m pretty blown away at the results.
I typically only wash my hair every 3-4 days as it doesn’t get dirty. This will change now that we are about to hit the 90’s and 100’s. I hate having a sweaty feel to my scalp so I will probably bump my washes up to every other day during the summer. In any event, my hair looks and feel amazing in between washings. It doesn’t feel oily or gritty. It stays bouncy and my curls actually remain intact. Before, they used to fall flat within a few hours. My hair is now a lot fuller looking and I swear it already grew more than it normally does. I suddenly have all these little whips around my face that were not there before. Trust me – I am happy with this. I lost a lot of hair during my 19 month battle with ulcerative colitis.
My only regret is that I did not find this product line sooner.
I would have had the Morrocco Method is my arsenal long ago. I intend to uses it for years to come and cannot wait to try some of their other products. I am really interested in their henna because ohmygosh, can you say hello grey hair!
I will be sure to share more with you as I try additional products and stay tuned for another post which dives into some really interesting facts about your hair, scalp, and their proper care. I promise some mind-blowing revelations!
