Without further ado, here is my review – thank you for reading and entering!

A few days after my daughter was born (which would be about 4 ½ years ago), I developed a really bizarre rash on my right hand. It itched like mad, burned, had oozy raw blisters, and drove me batty day in and day out!

My doctor suspected “new mom syndrome.” New moms wash their hands obsessively and he felt that I was simply drying out my skin, scratching at the dry patches, thus creating a scratch-itch cycle.

I wasn’t convinced that this was the issue. If I was over-washing, wouldn’t my left hand also be problematic or at least as dry?

About a month later, as I sat crying because my hand hurt so much, was infected, bleeding, and raw, my doctor changed his tune and decided that I was allergic to diaper wipes. The thing is, I wasn’t really using diaper wipes. While we did have emergency boxes of Seventh Generation diaper wipes, I was primarily using cloth wipes. The other wipes were only for on the go and we were not on the go that much.

My doctor put me on antibiotics, gave me some steroid cream, and told me that all would be well soon.

4 ½ years later and I still battle my right-handed plague. It basically sticks around full time, varying in severity. There is no real rhyme or reason to why it gets better or worse. I have literally tried everything. From diet changes, to coconut oil, to tallow lotion, and more. Nothing helps much.

I know that this rash is rooted in other health issues. I suspected that it was triggered when I got around gluten. But I don’t think that is the whole story. (I actually get a little “gluten patch” on my left hand when I have been exposed to gluten. That is what I consider to be my gluten button.) I am sure my gut health plays a role but even with improved gut health, this hand funk sticks around.

I pretty much had just given up on ever “curing” it or even getting long term relief. I have learned how to make it less painful, ensure that I don’t get the open sores infected, and stop myself from scratching it in my sleep. While the idea of not having this rash ever again sound like bliss, I knew it was unlikely.

I might as well let the cat out of the bag about the super-secret project I have been working on for almost 6 months. There is a FREE natural health summit coming your way that I have been working tirelessly to get organized. Well, part of that project involved finding companies to work with for a giveaway. That was when No Junque Skincare came across my radar thanks to Patty from Loving Our Guts.

I was intrigued by her skincare products. They fell in line with the ingredients I allow on my skin. The products are created by Kristina, a work-at-home-natural-minded-woman who battled her own health issues thus spurring her to create a product line that anyone could feel good about putting on the largest organ of their body.

What caught my eye was a lotion that contained Artemisinin.

Artemisinin is a derivative from the herb wormwood and it is a very effective antimicrobial. It is often used to treat intestinal parasites and drug resistant malaria.

No JunqueNo Junque’s Antimicrobial Body Lotion with Artemisinin is an all natural body lotion which is great for for normal to dry skin. It absorbs fast, is non-greasy, and nourishing. The addition of artemisinin makes this lotion a great antimicrobial (please consult with your doctor before ordering our lotions with artemisinin). Topical artemisinin has been used successfully in the treatment of various skin diseases. For more information please see the abstract in this link:

I love that No Junque does NOT conduct product or ingredient tests of any kind on animals. Kristina tests all products on her husband.

All of the No Junque products are:

  • Gluten Free
  • Paraben Free
  • GAPS Friendly
  • Sodium Lauryl Sulfate Free

I decided to give this lotion a try and Kristina sent me two samples of it along with a full size jar of the regular body lotion.

I decided to JUST use the lotion with the Artemisinin on my hands, so I could see what the results would be, if any. Here is a quick breakdown of what occurred:

Morning, Day 1: Applied lotion to hands, covered with cotton gloves.
Afternoon, Day 1: Hand was not itching at all. Usually by the afternoon my hand will not stop itching.
Before Bed, Day 1: Applied lotions to hands, covered with cotton gloves.

Morning, Day 2: Jaw hit the floor as I looked at my hand and saw NO redness. There were still peely spots and blisters but the red hue that has been my hand was not there. My right hand had an odd odor to it. Left hand smelled fine. Applied lotion to hands.
Afternoon, Day 2: No itching, right hand still stinks. No change to left hand which didn’t have any issues at the time.
Before Bed, Day 2: Blisters drying up. No oozing. Right hand REALLY stinky. No itching. No burning. Applied lotion to hands.

Morning, Day 3: Shocked when I looked at my hand and saw that all the open sores, blisters, etc… were closed up and covered in a layer of dry skin that was obviously trying to heal. Applied lotion to hands.
Before Bed, Day 3: No change, applied lotion to hands.

By day 6, you would never know that I had the hand funk I battled for over 4 years. While my hand was still dry with a little flaking, it did not itch, was not burning, and looked more normal than it had in years.

I was blown away. No way could one product with one ingredient be so powerful.

I cannot explain the odd smell coming from my right hand other than it was part of the healing process. Whatever was in there, wreaking havoc, was obviously clearing out in a stinky way. I tried to find information on why it would have a smell but did not come up with anything conclusive.

I am completely in love with No Junque products! While I will not use the lotion with Arteminisin as my everyday lotion, I will use it if things flare up on my hand or if I get any other odd rashes. For every day use, I will stick with the regular lotion in Gingersnapp! It is the most awesome scent ever! It smells so good I want to eat it!
