My Small Business Focused Holiday Gift Guide

It’s that time of year again. Consumerism gone wild. (Sorry – had to throw that in there).

Every year, I vow to be much more conservative in my gift giving. Due to the clash of religious cultures in our home, we do not celebrate Christmas in any major way. Tiny and I incorporate it into our nature table with a lovely nativity scene and I tell her stories of the true meaning of Christmas and the significance of the celebration of Jesus’ birth.

As for gift giving, we do not exchange gifts as a family. We do some gift giving to a few close friends and to my parents since I grew up in a Christmas celebrating Catholic household but beyond that, holiday shopping is really no big deal for me.

However, I do feel that it is so very important to support small, work at home artisans and businesses for holiday shopping. By shopping with small businesses,  you know that your money is putting food in their belly and clothes on their back.

Today, I would like to highlight 10 of my favorite small businesses in hopes that you will consider spending your hard earned holiday shopping dollars with them. Each business has a lot to offer and I guarantee that you will find something unique to share with your family, friends and loved ones.

Without further ado, I present (in alphabetical order)…

I adore this shop! If you are looking for gifts for baby, home, and family, then head on over to Anktangle today! You can find adorable and gender neutral baby leggings, wool diaper covers, shirts, and onesies. For the grownups in your life, there are some great wool dryer balls (that I use and love), grocery and produce bags, and wool dryer balls! All of these items are made with love and warmth!

Dionna at Code Name Mama has authored a book that I feel every mother should have. For My Children – A Mother’s Journal of Memories, Wishes, and Wisdom is the perfect gift to give to mothers, grandmothers, and soon-to-be mothers. Beautifully designed and illustrated, this book contains creative prompts that spark Mom’s recollections of fun family vacations, favorite childhood games, and special holidays. The thought-provoking queries allow Mom to delve into her own lifetime of experiences — her childhood and school years, falling in love and getting married, and, most of all, having and raising children. This collection of fill-in-the-blank lists is the easiest way for a mother to record on paper answers to the questions her children never thought to ask but will love to discover.
