Today I would like to introduce you to…
Howells Natural Wood Products AND
Dirty Diva Soaps

First Up – Howells Natural Wood Products!

What Can You Find At Howells Natural Wood Products?

Howells specializes in wooden blocks of all shapes, sizes, and combinations! The different size ratios of these blocks have been specifically designed to make them very easy to stack and build towers, houses, castles, bridges, or whatever your child can imagine. Whether you purchase a 24 piece starter set or the 118 piece deluxe set, all of the toy buildings blocks sets are made of the same piece sizes and any set of building blocks can be combined. So, if you are curious about these blocks, but are not ready to commit to the deluxe set, grab yourself a starter set and add onto later as you desire!

The blocks are made from natural wood or reclaimed wood and are very well crafted! These blocks have been hand sanded on all surfaces, corners and edges, and they are free from splinters and jagged edges. Howells uses absolutely NO PAINT, NO STAIN, NO VARNISH and NO surface coatings of any kind on these toy building blocks. ALL NATURAL WOOD MEANS THAT THEY ARE NATURALLY SAFE FOR CHILDREN OF ALL AGES.

Howells also offers some incredibly special puzzles including a pretty cool cube puzzle.  There are even some gorgeous drink coasters to adorn your home with.

Chris, the craftsman, personally makes each and every block by hand at his shop in Portland, Oregon. Every type of toy block sets he makes hav been tested and approved by his 4 year old son.

Why Toy Building Blocks?

Easy answer – because they are toys that grow with your child!

Wood building blocks are a good investment because children may continue to use them as they grow. Infants and toddlers enjoy simply touching and gripping larger, textured blocks. As toddlers, they develop more muscle control and are able to combine blocks, stack them, or line them up. Two-year-olds may demonstrate their first attempts at building structures, and show the beginnings of fantasy play.

Around the age of three, children learn how to balance and fit pieces together to build sturdier towers, then bridges and enclosures. Threes and fours begin to recognize designs and patterns, their towers and buildings becoming works of art. In kindergarten and early primary grades, blocks allow children to recreate structures, cities and landscapes from everyday life.

These blocks are not only fun for your child, but they are also educational. The simplistic design on shapes of these blocks will stimulate the minds of young children helping to teach them to discover, imagine, problem solve and create their own world! Try getting those results from a video game!!

What Did I Review From Howells Natural Wood Products?

Chris was kind enough to send the 82 piece deluxe set for me to review! This set is pretty amazing! It consists of:

  • 12 — 1-1/2 in. x 3/4 in. x 3 in.
  • 10 — 1-1/2 in. x 3/4 in. x 4-1/2 in.
  • 08 — 1-1/2 in. x 3/4 in. x 6 in.
  • 14 — 3/4 in. x 3/4 in. x 3 in.
  • 12 — 3/4 in. x 3/4 in. x 4-1/2 in.
  • 08 — 3/4 in. x 3/4 in. x 6 in.
  • 08 — 3 in. 45 degree triangles
  • 02 — 1-1/2 in. X 3 in. Cylinder Columns
  • 02 — 1-1/2 in. X 4-1/2 in. Cylinder Columns
  • 02 — 1-1/2 in. X 6 in. Cylinder Columns
  • 04 — 1-1/2 in. X 3/4 in. X 6 in. with 45 degree angles on either end

Trust me, there were more than enough blocks to keep me, er, Tiny busy! The combination of sizes and shapes of the blocks were perfect. I honestly do not think that you would ever run out of blocks! Tiny and I built all kinds of things and still always had plenty of extra blocks!

These blocks are very well made. No rough edges or uneven areas. The even did a decent job of standing up on carpet, which is pretty tough! Plus, they are really beautiful! If you have multiple children who are all interested in blocks, this set (or a larger set) is the way to go! They will withstand years and years of play!

As an aside, I think that this 18 piece roof set is truly the bees knees! It completes any block set and really creates limitless options for creating!

Mango, Green Apple, Wild Mountain Honey, DragonsBlood, French Vanilla, and Black Raspberry….

Blackberry Sage, Treehugger, Vanilla Chai, Bay Rum, Bahama Mama, Pumpkin Spice, Applejack and Peel, and Lemon Groove…..

Mmmmm….aren’t these names intriguing?

I love a good, natural, handmade soap. Even more than that, I love a good natural, handmade shampoo bar! They have kind of become my new obsession!

I was pursuing shampoo bars on Etsy, and Dirty Diva Soaps kept coming onto my radar. The shampoo bars looked amazing in the photos and the names and descriptions had me praying I would be able to review one!

So What Did I Review From Dirty Diva Soaps?

Kim sent me the “Imagine” shampoo bar. I was actually kind of peeved that it arrives shortly before Tiny’s bedtime because I could not wait to use it. I smelled AMAZING!

This is a cold processed shampoo bar enhanced with nourishing jojoba and wheat germ oils. The scent is a blend of golden honey, toffee and a pinch of musk. There really is no perfect way to describe it other than addicting and intoxicating!

When I did finally get in the shower the next morning, I was thrilled with the quality of the shampoo bar. Having used others before, I had something to compare it to. This bar definitely takes the prize as the most nourishing, best smelling, and most visually appealing shampoo bar I have tried! Oh, and it lathers so well too and leaves hair really soft! No need for conditioner unless you have curly hair like me! Then slap some ACV on there and call it good!

Want to win? Dirty Diva Soaps is offering one lucky winner a 3 pack of soaps from their shop. Winner selects which scents!
