Giveaway: (5) Five 16 Ounce Jars of Barlean’s Coconut Oil

You might remember a little giveaway from Barlean’s Coconut Oil earlier this year. It was actually one of my most popular giveaways and one of my most viewed posts. Kudos to Barlean’s for that!

I was excited when Barlean’s was willing to offer another giveaway. It is timely too considering my 333Uses For Coconut Oil post will hit the streets on Monday (August 20th). You are all going to need copious amounts of this goodness from nature!

You can read the original post I wrote about Barlean’s to learn more about my initial experience with their coconut oil. Today, I want to share a little bit about how I have been enjoying their product since. But before I do, let me remind you about the Barlean’s brand of coconut oil.

The company states that their Extra Virgin Coconut Oil is:

  • Island fresh from the province of Quezon in the Philippians;
  • Has an exceptional coconut flavor & aroma;
  • Superior to other brands in that the coconuts are hand selected then harvested at the peak of flavor & nutritional value;
  • Pressed on demand – bottled on demand;
  • Solvent & chemical free;
  • Certified organic by the USDA.

This particular coconut oil is cold pressed which means that the coconut is opened and the soft “meat” is scooped out and allowed to dry at very low temps (this is to lessen the amount of liquid in the coconut—like the remains of the milk) then it is expeller pressed.  Their processing is NOT “copra” processing which is dried meat made by smoke drying, sun drying or kiln drying. Copra oil usually has to be refined in the end—something they would never do! The cold pressed process allows for a smooth coconut flavor to the oil but one that is not overpowering.

Good stuff on paper and as I discussed previously, awesome coconut oil! So what has been going on between Barlean’s coconut oil and the Hybrid Rasta Mama household?

First, Tiny cries for it. She loves coconut oil in general but this child craves the Barlean’s brand specifically. She asks for the brown coconut oil (in reference to the brown colored container it comes in). You have to wrestle the stuff away from her. She would eat the entire jar in one sitting if you let her. I literally have to hide it from her. If she finds it, she hides it from me! Trust me, and endorsement like this from Tiny is a big deal! She prides herself on being a coconut oil aficionado.

But what about me you ask? Well, I am really loving it too. I find that it is my preferred brand when it comes to eating straight off the spoon. I never gag when taking it like I do with other brands at times. It has a really nice, light flavor to it that my palate seems to prefer. There is no rhyme or reason as to why. That’s the honest truth!

It also is still a wonderful oil for cooking and baking but I remain saddened that it does not come in larger containers. I blow through so much coconut oil in a day that a 16 ounce container doesn’t last long. There are actually some days when I could use 16 ounces in one day! I’m serious.

I highly recommend this coconut oil, especially if you have a rough time taking it straight up! But enough of my jibber-jabber…now for the best part!

FIVE lucky readers will win one 16 ounce jar of Barlean’s Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil. YEP! 5 OF YOU WILL WIN!!!!

    I would like to try the Olive Leaf Complex Throat Spray for my boyfriend who gets tonsil stones and occasionally loses his voice. He only drinks lemon juice right now. This looks much more beneficial.

    This one:

    Mole Remover – when applied after an apple cider vinegar compress for several weeks, moles have been known to “slide off” or just disappear.

    I don’t know why, but the thought made me LOL

    I am stubborn when it comes to eating green foods, so I would like to try the Barlean’s Organic Greens!

    I have tried the Olive Leaf Complex and you could sure tell it was good for you. tasted just like a strong plant lol!

    I LOVE coconut oil & use it ALL the time; while cooking, on my skin as a moisturizer, I make body scrubs with it & use as sun tanning oil as well as in place of gel for my hair! It also works as a great lubrication for intimate use. I LOVE it!
    Not sure I can pick just one of which was the most surprising for me but the most funny or shocking was probably for impotence. I also had no idea coconut oil will enrich & increase milk supply. This was most exciting to learn as my son is two weeks away from turning two and still nursing but b/c my milk is not his single food source my supply has decreased.

    Coconut oil…I LOVE it. I’ve never tried Barlean’s brand though…so would start there…then follow with Chia Seeds…probably some flax oil, and cod liver oil…in the capsules!

    Wow, I didn’t know it helped for nausea. It can be used as deodorant. Interesting how there aren’t many coconut natural deodorants on the market.

    I love Coconut Oil, have around 3 Gallons of Tropical Traditions Virgin stashed away in my cabinet for making all sorts of things…skincare products, oil pulling, cooking,the list goes on!

    I’ve only tried TT’s Oil, would love to try Barlean’s one day also!
    I wonder if there is much of a difference between the two?

    I know lots of things to use the oil for but it did surprise me reading even more…like lining the trash bin with coconut oil to prevent maggots from popping up!
    My mom actually had some in her kitchen floor the other week coming from the bin and she is the cleanest person on Earth, will let her know, thanks!

  9. Jessie says

    I would love to try Evening Primorose Oil. My husband is ex-military and has PTSD and I heard it can help with anxiety. Also, I’d love to just get some coconut oil for everyone in my house because my mother in law has Lupus and coconut oil could help her in oh so many ways!
